Venue Search Tips From A Planner

Brooklyn Wedding Venue

SEARCHING FOR THE PERFECT VENUE TO HOST YOUR DREAM WEDDING CAN BE FLEETING ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN A BIG CITY WHERE THERE ARE TOO MANY OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM!

HERE ARE OUR TOP TIPS TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR VENUE SEARCH!

1. Stick With What You Love!

Minimize your search parameters by filtering your search to your venue must haves, whether it is a venue with a view, water feature (beach-front/ocean-view/pond/lake) NYC sky-line, garden vibes, etc…

2. What Will/Will Not Your Venue Allow

Always consider your guests and the space you are preparing to drop $$$$$ on!

Is this space 420 friendly?

Can I bring in my own vendors or do I have to use the venues preferred vendor list?

Can I bring in my own Caterer?

Many venues do not allow this as this is how they make their money!

Are there any spaces we cannot dance?

Some venues do not allow dancing in all rooms – Manhattan is big for not allowing dancing on their rooftop spaces!

What is the maximum capacity for this space?

Current Covid- 19 guidelines in NY are for 25% capacity

This is very important to consider for your 2021 wedding

What is your cancellation policy?

Ask this question before signing a contract! You need to be prepared for the worst!

How late can my event go?

Every local town/city/municipality has varying guidelines – know this prior to booking!

Where are my guests parking?

Is Valet Service included?

If not, how much does it cost on average?

3. Book 20% Less Than Your Guest Count

Why?

Because 20% of your guests will likely not show

You can always increase your guest count but never decrease once a contract is signed!

4. Book The Venue That Speaks To You!

If you book a cheaper venue and try to decorate it similar to the out of price venue you love, I can guarantee you will spend more money than if you booked the venue you loved in the first place!

By booking a prettier space, most couples spend less on overall decor!
